Russia's Catherine the Great & Peter the Great
During the early 1900s, only noblemen possessed these rare, Tsarist-era 100-ruble banknotes (in 1910, 100 rubles could feed a family of four for a month!). Substantially larger than ordinary banknotes (10"x5"), ornately engraved, each displaying the double-headed eagle of Tsarist Russia and bearing a unique serial number.

To prevent counterfeiting, the bust of Catherine the Great was under-printed in the watermark of the 100-ruble note. Peter the Great's bust is under-printed on the 500-ruble note.
